Caravans are regarded by BS 7671 as being locations of increased electric shock risk. This is because their electrical installations are exposed to arduous conditions, and persons using them are liable to be minimally clothed and/or exposed to wetness from, for example, wet weather or perspiration, and when outside the caravan may be in contact directly with the general mass of Earth.
Consequently, electrical installations in caravans are subject to the requirements of Division One, Section 608 of BS 7671, which supplement and modify the general requirements of that Standard. Division Two, Section 608 applies to caravan park installations, including supplies to caravan pitches. |
